For the beginner as well as the expert looking for challenges in the saltwater, the Kenai Peninsula has it all! Surrounded by Cook Inlet, Kachemak Bay, the Gulf of Alaska, and Resurrection Bay, the saltwater fishing is some of the best in the world for halibut, in particular!

Trolling the coastal waters of Cook Inlet for King (Chinook) Salmon near shore and then traveling further offshore (typically 12 miles) to fish for Halibut will give lots of action and some of the best eating fish around. Giant Pacific Halibut, the size of barn doors, are caught every year. They are generally in the 25-70 lb range with a few much larger ones averaging 100-200 lbs. caught occasionally.
